Venice Day Two or 1/2 day in Burano

Tags:

We woke up in the morning and went down to the corner cafe to have breakfast.  We had decided that we were going to go to Burano and Murano for the day.  We took the water bus I guess over to the other island.  It took about an hour to get there and there were several stops in between.  This is one of the islands we went by but I do not believe we stopped here. The wear and tear on there just held my attention.  All the rust and brick made me want to stop and explore.

As we got closer to the island you could see the colors in the distance.  This is the most colorful island here and it looked so exciting and welcoming.  The brightness of the colors were like a painting, making you just want to jump in and be in the midst of the beauty.

It was like no matter what corner you turned there were bright colors everywhere. There was laundry hanging from windows and tourist galore walking the streets.

The buildings were not only painted in the most colorful way but the sky was also a beautiful shade of blue with whispy cloud.  Talk about a picture perfect island.

Of course, not all of the buildings were in picture perfect shape.  Some had peeling paint, broken shutters and were just not in the best of conditions. But they were still beautiful if you like that kind of this.  Which I do!

The thing I noticed were the steeple type buildings here and in Venice were not straight.  This island in case you didn’t know is known as the lace making island.  I did not get photos of the lace but it was beautiful.

After walking around we decided to stop and get something to eat.  I believe it was a touristy place where we went to eat.  Regardless of this the food was very good and we enjoyed every bite.

This was one of my favorite photographs.  The sky is picture perfect and the colors of the buildings are vibrant.

Next week I will do the post on Murano the glass blowing island.  I didn’t have a lot of photographs from there as we were afraid we were going to miss the last ferry back so we rushed through.  Also, it was 6pm and everything was starting to close.
